Detour Harbor, Michigan is located on west side of DeTour Passage, about 2 miles upstream from Lake Huron.  The passage forms the mouth of the St. Marys River which connects Lakes Huron and Superior.  The project provides for a small boat harbor and a Harbor of Refuge which is comprised for 10-foot deep entrance channel; and an 8-foot deep access channel protected with a 1,305-foot and a 1,050-foot breakwater.
