The main hydro power plant, (named the New Power Plant) was built between the years 1949 – 1951 and contains four generating units, Units 1, 2, 3, 3A. The largest U.S. civil works component produced by 3D printer was printed by Lincoln Electric for use in the Poe Lock ship arrestor rehabilitation project at the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
