Army Corps correct media reports on Great Lakes water levels

Published June 7, 2016

There have been several statements erroneously reported by the media related to Great Lakes water levels and erosion. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, wishes to set the record straight by providing the following statement:

Water levels on all of the Great Lakes are above average for this time of year, but remain below record high conditions. On Lakes Michigan and Huron, water levels over the next six months are expected to remain 18 to 20 inches below the record high levels of the mid-1980s.
