St. James Harbor, Beaver Island, Michigan is located in St. James Bay on Beaver Island, Michigan in Lake Michigan, about 31 miles northwesterly from Charlevoix, Michigan. The project was authorized by the Rivers and Harbors Act of 2 March 1945. The project provides for dredging a channel 150 feet wide and 14 feet deep through the northwesterly portion of the sheltered bay, to provide access to the deep water area in the northerly end of the bay. The harbor services primarily the ferry service from the mainland and recreational navigation interests.
