The existing project provides for riprapping the outer 200 feet of the existing north pier at the mouth of the Au Sable River; dredging an entrance channel 12 feet deep and dredging between two piers and upstream to the State Highway Bridge to a 10-foot depth. The harbor services primarily recreational navigation interests.
