DETROIT Do you have great pictures from visits to the Soo Locks, Duluth Ship Canal or from a beach near a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers pier or break water on the Great Lakes? The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, invites you to enter your pictures in our photo contest. We will start accepting digital photo submissions by email beginning May 2, 2016 at 8 a.m. through May 15, 2016 at 11:59 p.m.

Photos will be uploaded to an album on Facebook May 16 and open for public voting through “likes” until May 30.  The top 12 winners will have their photos included in a 2017 downloadable calendar and first, second and third place winners will receive a plaque with their winning photo, provided by the Soo Locks Visitors Center Association and Lake Superior Marine Museum Association.

Photographers need to be 18 years old to participate and photos should highlight U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects, including piers, break waters or facilities on the Great Lakes.  Photos containing nudity or unsafe or illegal acts will be disqualified.  Professional photographers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees and board members of the SLVCA and LSMMA are not eligible to participate.
